Visa Information


Foreigner registration

Target

Foreigners who want to stay for more than 90 days after obtaining a Korean visa and entering to Korea

Period

Within 90 days from the date of entry into the Republic of Korea (If you do not register as a foreigner within the period, you will be fined for negligence)

Submission documents

- Integrated application
- passport
- A copy of the visa
- Photo (3.5cm*4.5cm, photos taken within the last 6 months)
- Certificate of enrollment
- Documents proving the place of stay (dormitory residence confirmation, rental agreement, etc.)
- Fee 30,000 won
- Tuberculosis check-up certificate (exempted when submitted to the embassy)

Report of alien registration changes

When any of the following reasons occurs, a foreigner who has registered as a foreigner must report the change to the competent immigration office within 15 days from the date on which the reason for notification occurs.

(1) Reports
- Relocation of address (You can also report it at the competent ward office or community center)
- Name, gender, date of birth and nationality
- Passport number, issuance date and validity period
- School change
(2) Documents to be prepared
- Common documents: integrated application form, alien registration card, passport
- Documents proving the changed address (lease agreement, etc.)
- Documents proving that personal information such as name has been changed (applicable person)
- Enrollment certificate of the changed school and certificate of expulsion from the previous school (if applicable)

Residence status change

Language training (D4) → Studying abroad (D2) status change

Language trainees who have entered the university’s degree program must change to D2 qualification before admission (start of semester).

Preparation documents

- Integrated application
- Standard admission permit and tuition payment certificate
- Passport and alien registration card
- Certificate of final academic background
(The original certificate of academic background submitted at the time of application for admission cannot be returned, and a copy may be prepared separately or a copy of the school’s original copy can be provided)
- Original bank statement of 20,000 USD or more to the name of a student at a domestic (Korean) bank
- Certificate of enrollment or completion of language school (including attendance rate) and original language school transcript
- Photo (3.5cm*4.5cm, photos taken within the last 6 months)
- Commission 130.000 won
- Documents proving the place of stay (dormitory residence confirmation, rental agreement, etc.)

Extension period of stay

Period

You can apply for extension period of stay (visa) at the competent immigration office from 4 months before the expiration date to the expiration date. Among current students whose period of stay is about to expire must apply for a visa extension before the expiry date.

Preparation documents

- Integrated application
- Passport and alien registration card
- Certificate of enrollment
- Transcripts (If you have F grades, additionally submit a “Reason for Poor Learning”)
- Certificate of tuition payment
- Financial proof document (“Balance certificate” in the name of a domestic bank 10,000 USD)
* Exemption from submission if both the total GPA and the GPA of the previous semester are 2.0 or higher
* Applicants who have completed the extra semester after completing the regular semester are required to submit
- Documents proving the place of stay (rental contract, confirmation of accommodation provision, postal notice of expiration period of stay, utility bill payment receipt, dormitory fee receipt, etc.)
- Commission 60,000 won
※ Those who exceed the semester (students who have registered beyond the regular semester due to reasons such as failing to pass the graduation exam or thesis) need to submit an additional confirmation of the extra semester
※ If you have registered for research after completing graduate school, you need to submit a certificate of completion and confirmation from your thesis advisor.
※ Additional examination materials may be requested at the Immigration Office.
※ Visa extension may be restricted if an act violates the purpose of visa stay during the period of stay

Part-time work permission

Target

Foreign students (D2/D4) who wish to work part-time while continuing their studies must apply for permission to engage in activities other than the status of sojourn at the competent immigration office.

Qualifications to apply

- GPA of C(2.0) or higher in the previous semester
- Undergraduate students are available only for regular semester students (extra semester students are not allowed), graduate students can participate in activities
- TOPIK holders (Undergraduate 1st and 2nd year: Level 3 or higher / Undergraduate 3rd year or higher and graduate students: Level 4 or higher)
※ If the TOPIK water supply standard is not met, it is allowed only within 1/2 of the allowable time.

Allowable time

- Undergraduate students: within 25 hours per week, graduate students: within 35 hours per week
- Unlimited weekends, holidays and vacations during the semester

Preparation documents

- Passport and alien registration card
- Confirmation of part-time employment (signed by the employer and the person in charge of international students at the school)
- Transcript
- TOPIK score report (applicable)
- Copy of standard labor contract (including hourly wage, work details, and working hours)
- A copy of business registration certificate

How to apply

Before starting a part-time job, prepare an application form and make a reservation at the local immigration office or apply online at Hi Korea ( www. hikorea.go.kr )

Restricted area

- Industrial confidentiality protection company, speculative business place, entertainment pub receptionist
- Manufacturers, construction companies, and fields that require qualifications in the relevant field (however, TOPIK level 4 or higher can be licensed for manufacturing)

Violators Handling

- In case of first detection, payment of fine and part-time employment ban for 1 year
- Revocation of study abroad qualification (departure) in case of second detection
※ However, in the case of the construction industry, regardless of the number of times of detection, immediately leave the country upon the first detection.

Stop-out/Return Visa Information

Stop-out Visa

- If there is a change in school register, the visa will expire regardless of the remaining period of stay on the back of the student's alien registration card.
- You must return to your home country within 30 days of the change in school register.
- If you stay in Korea without leaving the country, you will become an illegal immigrant.
- Please return your alien registration card to the airport immigration desk when you leave the country.

Return Visa

- If you want to return to school and enter Korea again, you need to get a D2Visa from your country.
- We will issue you a standard admission after applying for school and paying tuition during the designated application period before the start of the semester.
- After receiving the standard admission, visit the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and apply for visa issuance.
- You must apply for a visa before the beginning of the school and enter the country as soon as possible after issuing a visa.

- passport
- standard admission, Business license of this school (Issuance of school)
- Final Academic Certification Document (student has prepared)
- Financial ability Certification Document (above 20,000USD)
- Additionally submit a proof of family relationship when submitting a certificate of balance in parent name
※ Each diplomatic mission may require additional documents to be submitted.

Information of Stay after Graduation

Visa after Graduation

- International Students(Possessor of D2Visa) who have completed their degree must return to their country within 30 days of graduation.
- If you want to stay in Korea due to graduate school, job search, employment, etc., you have to change a visa to each reason.
- If it is impossible to leave the country within the deadline due to unavoidable circumstances (such as absence of air tickets), you must visit the immigration office in charge and apply for adjustment of the departure period.
- If you don't leave the country within the period, it will be illegal, and you will be restricted from issuing Korean visas and re-entry Korea in the future.

Studying abroad(D-2)->Change Seeking Work Qualificaiton

Applicant
- the case that a foreigner who is legally staying in the country meets the scoring requirements(A person who has 20 or more in basic items out of a total of 190 points and has a total score of 60 or more according to the job qualification score table)
- A person who holds a bachelor's degree (including a person who is expected to receive a degree) in domestic or foreign affairs and intends to prepare for a start-up based on intellectual property rights or equivalent technical skills
How to apply : Prepare the following documents and visit the immigration office to apply (permission per 6 months)
- Consolidation Application, passport, Certificate of alien registration, passport photo (3.5cm×4.5cm)
- Job-seeking activity plan
- Certificate of educational background (submit one of Graduation certificate, degree certificate, degree acquisition certificate)
- Certificate of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK 또는 KIIP)
ETC.
- The immigration office may request additional examination materials, such as proof of financial ability, proof of residence, etc
- You cannot apply with a certificate of the expectant graduation only, and you must apply immediately after the degree certificate(certificate of graduation) is issued.
- If a foreign international student has a record of illegal employment while studying in Korea, he or she will be restricted from changing his or her eligibility to stay for employment (D-10).
